-The Missouri Army National Guard continues to lean forward and prepare Soldiers and units for deployment in operations around the world to extend our capabilities and initiatives to protect Missourians, as well as all citizens of our nation.
- The 35th Combat Aviation Brigade is continuing to prepare for deployment to the US Central Command area of operation. This is a very complex deployment with over 70 units from 15 states preparing to deploy under the brigade's command and control. The CAB is a multi-functional brigade-sized unit offering a combination of attack helicopters (AH-64 Apache), reconnaissance helicopters (OH-58 Kiowa), medium-lift helicopters (UH-60 Black Hawk), heavy-lift helicopters (CH-47 Chinook), and Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) capability.
- The 35th Engineer Brigade continues to act as a contingency tactical command post and exercise planning organization in support of U.S. Army South. As a result of this ongoing relationship, the brigade will lead a more than 600-Soldier task force in a "Beyond the Horizons" exercise. The task force will build and renovate schools, as well as provide medical care in rural areas of Guatemala and Honduras.
- 70th Troop Command is tasked as the FEMA Region 7 Homeland Response Force - one of only 10 HRFs nationwide. While capable as an all-hazards response force, the HRF is designed to respond to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents. The HRF, also National Guard Reaction Force with non-lethal capability sets, when directed by proper authority and upon consent of the Governor(s), alerts, assembles and deploys within six to 12 hours and conducts command and control; security; search and rescue; search and extraction; decontamination; and medical triage as needed in order to save lives and mitigate human suffering. Troop Command has spent the past 10 months building the HRF and will be validated by the Secretary of Defense in March 2012.
- 110th Maneuver Enhanced Brigade is breaking new ground with U.S. Army Africa by planning and conducting brigade headquarters command and control for "Eastern Accord 2012" in Tanzania. The intent of the Eastern Accord exercise is to conduct humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations; enhance capabilities and interoperability; gain and maintain regional access; and establish relationships with Regional Brigade Security Force partners.
CAMP AS SALIYAH, Qatar – Missouri National Guardsmen from two deployed units are undergoing the very tough Army Warrior Leader’s Course while on a base security mission in the Middle East.
