JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Capt. Aaron Larimore, a Russellville native and supervisory information technology specialist at Joint Force Headquarters, was promoted to the rank of major during a promotion ceremony held at Ike Skelton Training Site on Saturday.

Pinning him with his new rank were wife, Erin, and Air Force Col. Eric Vander Linden, the regional emergency preparedness liaison officer for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region VII.

Larimore first began his career with the Air Force in 1992, and has worked in several positions throughout his military career. After starting out as an active duty enlisted Airman from 1992-1997 working as an aerospace ground equipment mechanic, he eventually transitioned into the Air Force Reserve and performed the same job for the next six years. In 2003 Larimore commissioned as an officer in the Reserves and assumed the new position of an A-10 aircraft maintenance officer, which he continued until 2006. Between 2006 and 2008 he worked as the munitions office A-10 officer in charge, and has since then carried on his present role.

Over the years, Larimore served on multiple deployments. He deployed to Turkey in 1996 for Operation Provide Comfort, Iraq in 2003 for Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Afghanistan in 2006 and 2008 for Operation Enduring Freedom.

When asked how it felt to be promoted and recognized for his efforts, Larimore said it's fantastic.

"Being in the position I'm in allows me to help people - to remove barriers - whether it be work related, Family, or personal," Larimore said. "A happy troop makes me happy."

Present for the ceremony were his parents Dave and Wanda, wife Erin, father-in-law Mike, and Mike's fiancée Cheri. In addition to Family, several fellow Air and Army Guardsmen were also present to show support and celebrate in Larimore's special moment.

"We're very proud of the fine person and man he is," Wanda said. "He is a wonderful role model."

Aside from his military accomplishments, Larimore holds a bachelors degree in computer information systems with a minor in business administration from Lincoln University and a masters degree in business administration with an emphasis in human resources from William Woods University, from which he graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.
