LEXINGTON, Mo. - Missouri National Guard's Headquarter Support Company, 35th Infantry Division bid farewell to Capt. John F. Blake, of Kansas City, during a change of command ceremony on July 15 at the Lexington National Guard Armory. After two years with the company Blake relinquished his command to Capt. John P. Plaster, of Moberly.
Blake has accepted a teaching position in Arizona which will compliment his master's in education. Blake has held several positions with the 35th ID, served with the 1-129th Field Artillery and also deployed to Kosovo in 2008.
Plaster said he is looking forward to this new command and plans to focus on the importance of education and furthering his troops' careers. Plaster has also held various leadership positions including two deployments, one with the 1140th Engineer Battalion and the other with the 35th Rear Operations Cell.
While this company is based in Lexington it supports units in St. Joseph and Leavenworth, Kan., as well.
Attending the ceremony were Lt. Col. Denise Wilkinson, battalion commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Philip Butler, battalion command sergeant major.
