CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Pvt. Sean Wall, of Sikeston, recently completed his military training to become a motor transport driver for Missouri National Guard's Detachment 1, 1221st Transportation Unit in Portageville.
The reason he joined the Missouri National Guard was to better himself, both physically and mentally, said Wall.
He graduated from basic training and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
Prior to training, Wall served with Company E of the Recruit Sustainment program in Cape Girardeau. Through the program, he learned basic Army skills and values and became more familiar with his role as a Soldier in the Missouri Army National Guard.
Staff Sgt. Zach Petty, recruiter at the Sikeston armory, said Wall will be a great asset to his new unit.
"He has the drive to push himself and be a better person and Soldier," said Petty. "His high expectations for himself will only propel him forward in his military career and inspire those around him."
Wall will begin serving with his new unit in August 2012.
Wall is the son of Danny, deceased, and Joy Bond.
