OSAGE BEACH, Mo. - The Missouri Army National Guard's Missouri Recruiting and Retention Battalion recently honored Soldiers for their efforts in building the National Guard's force statewide.
Among those honored was Sgt. 1st Class Jordan Bennett with Area 1, Missouri Recruiting and Retention Battalion which is based in St. Joseph. Bennett received the Adjutant General's Top 10 Producer Award.
The honor goes to the top 10 recruiters in Missouri who enlisted the most Citizen-Soldiers. Bennett was in the elite group of non-commissioned officers from over 70 recruiters currently in the state.
Bennett said he invested a lot of long hours into his new recruits and is confident they will make great Citizen-Soldiers. As a recruiter he recounts on what the military has done for him and simply shares those benefits with prospective troops.
"I feel my military service has helped better my life by making me mature and further appreciating what is out there in the world," said Bennett. "I've gained a lot of respect for what I have and where I live. The National Guard helped me obtain a college education and my recruiting career has helped me show others how to start a career and become successful at an early age."
Bennett added that one of the most rewarding things about his job is to see an individual grow and become something great.
After reaching this standard, Bennett is again challenged with maintaining that benchmark and pushing himself to go even further.
"I've shown myself, my support channel and my chain of command that hard work and dedication can achieve great things," said Bennett. "This award motivates me to achieve the same or greater award every year."
Bennett, of Cameron, has been with the National Guard for over 14 years. Currently he is based out of the St. Joseph recruiting office.
