JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A Jefferson City Missouri Army National Guard officer, 1st Lt. Amy V. Cordonnier, was promoted to the rank of captain in a ceremony recently.
With her son Avery assisting, Cordonnier was promoted by Maj. Vincent Bentinganan, Deputy Financial Manager for the Missouri National Guard.
Cordonnier, who has served 11 years in the Missouri Air National Guard, was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in the Missouri Army National Guard in 2008 and currently serves as the Fiscal Accounting Officer. Col. Lawrence Stegeman, Deputy United States Property and Fiscal Officer commended Cordonnier on her achievements.
"You've done a great job for us and we appreciate it," Stegeman said. "It's well earned, good luck to you."
In attendance were Cordonnier's parents, Dennis and Sharon Liesmann, her nephew Peyton, her son Avery and her husband Christopher.
"It is great," said Cordonnier. "I'm no longer that Lieutenant. I just want to lead my Soldiers; I have that confidence in them that I'm able to take them where they need to go, whether that is to theater, to a war zone or leading my office as the Fiscal Accounting Officer."
A native of Linn Missouri, Cordonnier's Military Awards include the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (5th award), Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Missouri National Guard 15-Year Long Service Ribbon.
