WELCOME HOME FOR MISSOURI ARMY GUARD ENGINEERS
JOPLIN, Mo. -The Missouri National Guard will welcome home its Soldiers in Joplin's 203rd Engineer Battalion and Kansas City's 1141st Engineer Company (Sapper) at two ceremonies on Monday, Sept. 20.
The Soldiers deployed to support Overseas Contingency Operations in just over a year ago. While overseas, its missions included clearing roads of improvised explosive devices, construction of bridges for advancing coalition forces and counter-mobility operations by way of building and improving base fortifications.
The 203rd commanded, controlled and supported three sapper companies in Afghanistan - its own 1141st Engineer Company, of Kansas City, the 211th Engineer Company, of South Dakota, and the 810th Engineer Company, of Georgia. The unit reported to the 372nd Engineer Brigade of the Army Reserves from Minnesota and the 82nd Airborne Division.
The 203rd is commanded by Lt. Col. Anthony Adrian, of Columbia. The 1141st is commanded by Capt. Brian Sayer, of Richland.
