Jenkins enlists in Missouri Army National Guard

ST. JOSEPH - Jason Jenkins, of Pickering, recently enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard and will serve with the 311th Brigade Support Battalion in Lexington. He currently drills in St. Joseph with the Area 1 Recruit Sustainment Program. Jenkins will later receive instruction for his military occupational specialty as a food service specialist.
"I joined the National Guard to be a servant to my country," said Jenkins. "I hope to build a strong foundation as both a servant to Missouri and our nation, and to be the best Soldier I can be."
Upon enlistment, Jenkins will earn over $500 a month in GI Bill benefits plus 100 percent college tuition assistance.
Jenkins is a 1997 graduate of Clarinda High School in Clarinda, Ia. and is currently attending Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. He is supported by his wife, Connie, and children, Jordan and Andrea.
