GOWER - On Wednesday, Daisy Girl Scouts from Troop 8448 huddled around with anticipation to learn about their guest speaker. Senior Airman Leigh Boyer, of Gower, was able to share some of her experiences in the military with the kindergarten and first grade girls.
"The girls really seemed interested," said Boyer. "I wanted to let the girls know they can do anything they want in life."
As a loadmaster on a C-130 for the 139th Airlift Wing in St. Joseph, Boyer was able to bring in some of her equipment and explain how it is important to her job. The troop even got to try on some of the gear, as well as check out an MRE, or meal, ready to eat.
During her 13-year military career, Boyer has served in both the active-duty Army and Air National Guard. She will soon leave for her first deployment, spending two months in Afghanistan.
