KANSAS CITY - The Missouri Army National Guard recently received a proclamation from Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser thanking Citizen-Soldiers for their outstanding example of volunteerism throughout Kansas City. The honor was made in conjunction with International Volunteer Day.

"It is a small gesture, but I hope it recognizes you for your big effort to make our city a better place to live," said Funkhouser.

The declared aim of International Volunteer Day is to thank the volunteers and organizations around the world for their efforts and increase public awareness of their contributions to society.
