BRIGADIER GENERAL STEPHEN L. DANNER

Brigadier General Danner was born May 3, 1953 in Macon County Missouri. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Missouri–Kansas City in 1977 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1980. Brigadier General Danner completed a Master of Strategic Studies through the United States Army War College in 2004.
Brigadier General Danner has served in the military for more than 30 years, first enlisting as a combat engineer in 1972. He joined the Missouri National Guard as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corps in 1981 serving in the 135th Field Artillery Brigade, 70th Troop Command, and 35th Engineer Brigade. Brigadier General Danner has also held several other military assignments. He has served as Deputy Chief of Staff, commanded the 140th Regiment (Regional Training Institute-Missouri), and served as the Assistant Adjutant General-Army, Joint Force Headquarters-Missouri. From May 2005 to January 2007, Brigadier General Danner deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 35th Area Support Group. Upon his return, he served as the State Judge Advocate, Joint Force Headquarters-Missouri until his appointment by Governor Nixon as Adjutant General in January 2009.
Throughout his career, Brigadier General Danner has received several military awards including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the National Defense Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars.
Brigadier General Danner has four children and one grandchild and currently resides with his wife, Kathleen Steele Danner, in Hollister, Missouri.
