State Tuition Assistance
The Missouri State Tuition Assistance Program was established in 1998 by Missouri House Bills 1519 & 1165, section 173.239. State tuition assistance pays for any Missouri in-state school. It will only be used after all Federal tuition assistance has been exhausted. Currently state tuition assistance covers 100% of tuition for students with ten years or less of service. For students with 10 to 17 years of service it covers 50% of the tuition. It will cover up to 39 credit hours per year.
Federal Tuition Assistance
Financial assistance will be provided for voluntary off-duty education programs in support of a Soldier’s professional and personal self-development goals. Federal Tuition assistance is directly related to retaining quality Soldiers, enhancing their career progression, increasing the combat readiness of the Army, and returning Soldiers to civilian careers. Federal Tuition assistance may be used to pay one hundred percent of the total cost of tuition and fees charged by the institution not to exceed the established DOD standardized TA policy of $250 per semester hour cap and the fiscal year ceiling dollar limits of $4,500.
Incentives
The Secretary of the Army has authorized the use of incentives to serve as an extraordinary measure to assist the ARNGUS in meeting and sustaining manpower requirements. Incentives also contribute to quality and skill-match objectives, and help stabilize the ARNGUS through longer service commitment. The Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) offers Enlistment bonus, Educational assistance, Reenlistment/extension bonus, Affiliation bonus, Repayment of student loans, and Health Professionals loan repayment.
