Guard offers direct commissions in Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Officer Branches to highly qualified medical professionals who have acquired special skills through education and employment experience. Opportunities exist for Physicians, Physician Assistants, Dentists, Nurses, and persons who desire a career in medical administrative, logistical, and operational positions.

AMEDD personnel from Missouri Army National Guard have provided medical support during state and federal missions. State missions have included providing medical support to attendees of the Pope's visit in 1994; providing medical care to low income families during Guard Care; provide logistical support to 9 News Health Fair; and Medical Readiness Exercises in Panama, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Belize, and Honduras. Federal missions have included providing medical support to soldiers during Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield in the early 1990s.

Today, the Missouri Army National Guard AMEDD community continues to serve proudly in the true tradition of the National Volunteer, the Citizen Soldiers; providing medical support stateside to soldiers preparing for deployment and providing medical care to soldiers overseas in Operations Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
