What is the Veterans' Awards Program?
The veterans' awards program was first established in
2000 with the creation of the World War II Veterans' Award Recognition.
The World War II Veterans' Award Recognition consists of a medal, medallion, and
certificate. World War II veterans who participated in the D-Day invastion
of Europe are also elibible to receive a replica of the Jubilee of Liberty
medal. Since the program began, over 41,000 Missouri veterans have been
awarded the World War II Veterans' Award Recognition.
In the 2003 legislative session, the Koran War Medallion was added.
The Korean War award consists of a medal, medallion, and certificate.
In the 2006 legislative session, the Vietnam War Medallion was added.
The Vietnam War award consists of a medal, medallion, and certificate.
Who May Apply for the Awards?
Veterans, spouses of veterans, or the eldest living survivor of veterans who
meet the requirements below.

- Veteran served on active duty in the United States military at any time during
the period of December 7, 1941 to December 30, 1946
- Veteran was honorably separated or discharged from military service, is still in
active service in honorable status, or was in active service in nonorable status
at the time of death
- Veteran is a legal resident of Missouri at the time of application, or was a
legal resident at the time he or she entered or was discharged from military
service or at the time of his or her death.
- The World War II medal, medallion, and certificate shall be awarded regardless
of whether or not sucfh veteran served within the United States or a foreign
country
- Jubilee of Liberty: Veteran
must meet above requirements and must have participated in the Normandy Invasion
in France during the period of June 6, 1944 to September 30, 1944

- Veteran served on active duty in the United States
military at any time during the period of June 27, 1950 to January 31, 1955
- Veteran was honorably separated or discharged from
military service, is still in active service in honorable status, or was in
active service in nonorable status at the time of death
- Veteran is a legal resident of Missouri at the time of
application, or was a legal resident at the time he or she entered or was
discharged from military service or at the time of his or her death.
- The Korean War medal, medallion, and certificate shall
be awarded regardless of whether or not sucfh veteran served within the United
States or a foreign country

- The Vietnam War medal, medallion, and certificate shall
be awarded regardless of whether or not sucfh veteran served within the United
States or a foreign country
